WEEKLY BRIEFINGS

House Minority Leader Weekly Briefing
July 20, 2023
During his weekly news conference on Capitol Hill, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) criticized the House Republican-majority for giving Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. a congressional platform amid Mr. Kennedy’s testimony before a House Judiciary subcommittee, which occurred that day. Rep. Jeffries accused RFK Jr. of peddling conspiracy theories and anti-semitic tropes, and said his campaign is a “false flag operation” run by right-wing operatives with the objective to take down President Biden. Reporters also asked the House Democratic leader about artificial intelligence, writer and actor strikes in the entertainment industry, and a recent House hearing on two IRS whistleblowers' work on investigating President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.
